USGBC: “Walk & Talk” at The Landing at Southpoint

Several members of the staff joined other area architects, landscapers and developers at the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) “Walk & Talk” in Durham, this past Wednesday as Rex Bost of FreeRain and others spoke about the Landing at Southpoint project.

A majority of the discussion was centered around rain harvesting and how this process enabled the project to receive the honor of becoming the “first LEED certified condo community in North Carolina.”

So what is rain harvesting? Good Question! Click Here to find out more.

This process is beneficial not only for commercial use but it can be used in residential homes as well. Rain harvesting helps the environment while also saving the homeowner huge amounts of money on utility bills.

Local Designers Help Interact

As a part of the Carolinas Chapter of ASID community event, Design Lines volunteered with other area designers in Raleigh at Interact a private non-profit United Way agency. We were able to organize some of the donated gifts for their Holiday Bazaar on December 10th. These holiday gifts will go to women, children and families who have been victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.

A View From the Top

A new and exciting business venture for Design Lines, Ltd. has been our recent membership of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

This morning-Judy, Brittany, Lauren and I attended the GRCC New Member Breakfast at the Cardinal Club in Downtown Raleigh. From the 28th floor of the Wachovia Building we enjoyed the spectacular morning view while also making many new contacts. Two of our favorites were Sally from The Special Event Company and also John and Damon from Triangle Blvd.tv.

We are looking forward to networking and deepening these business relationships in the community of Raleigh, which has been the backdrop of our company for over thirty years.
