A New Look…..

Well you think someone has thought of it all until you find something that just blows your mind. Well this is the most genius idea I have ever seen. Coming from someone that owns two dogs, one being 65 pounds and one being 15 pounds, and a cat, I would love for Santa to bring me this.

This is a nightstand with a built-in dog crate. Genius!

And the great thing is you don’t even have to use it as a nightstand, next to your bed. You could put it in the corner of your office or living room, it looks a lot better than the Wal Mart metal crate. Why not use it as an end table next to the sofa. Your friends will not notice, well maybe when weird noises start coming from it.
The best site I found was http://www.denhaus.com/. It will run you about $525.00 but what a great concept and you would spend that much on a nightstand or end table.

You can even go contemporary! This red one comes in three other colors too.

A View From the Top

A new and exciting business venture for Design Lines, Ltd. has been our recent membership of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

This morning-Judy, Brittany, Lauren and I attended the GRCC New Member Breakfast at the Cardinal Club in Downtown Raleigh. From the 28th floor of the Wachovia Building we enjoyed the spectacular morning view while also making many new contacts. Two of our favorites were Sally from The Special Event Company and also John and Damon from Triangle Blvd.tv.

We are looking forward to networking and deepening these business relationships in the community of Raleigh, which has been the backdrop of our company for over thirty years.

Form & Function Tuesday

The sights of snow flurries in the air today got me thinking about the Myrtle Beach Vacation I took last month. I love how the picture above looks iconic in a 1960s Myrtle Way.

I love the content of these next shots: the weathered wood of the pier paired with the color of the ocean on a windy day was a restful color scheme and the truly functional form of these stools (these are used by some local Fishermen) were beautiful to me.

Local Design

HAVEN

Looking for a great local shop in the heart of Raleigh–Check out Haven off of Lassiter at North Hills Avenue. 919-881-2440

They have everything from monogrammed hand towels, chic lighting, neat home decor and possibly the best hand lotion ever made.

If you have ever been to our studio you will see us, especially in the winter time running to lather up in Olivina.

It is a delightful smell sure to put anyone in a great mood! Not to mention it leaves your skin so smooth.

Also as a bonus and in the spirit of all things pear: check out this amazing Pear & Gorgonzola Crostini recipe from my friend Bradley’s cooking blog. Yum!
See you at the sale!

A tribute to Mr. Columbus

I had nearly forgotten that today was Christopher Columbus Day until I got an email blast from Pottery Barn reminding me to check out their sales. In anticipation of the Pear Square Event & Sale (We’re all so excited at Design Lines), I thought I’d pull together a couple of items for sale inspired by & in honor of Christopher Columbus.

We have a pair of these beautiful pierced wooden mirrors, 40″ in diameter

We have quite a few pieces of framed art with nautical & map themes. I’d pair the one above with anything cobalt & some black & white photography to make it less serious.

These wood sculptures on stands are great as abstract pieces of art, I love the rescued shipwrecked vibe.

I pulled this image from our portfolio as the most worthy of Christopher Columbus. It’s a snapshot of a study we just completed at Lake Gaston. I adore the interest that the convex mirror added to the space (thank you Restoration).

Happy Columbus Day to all!
